Town Board Meeting Minutes
February 4th, 2014
6:00 p.m.
1) Call to order. Town Chairman, Curt Peterson called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m.
Town Supervisors in attendance were: David Gollon and Steve Johnson. Also in attendance were Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson, Crystal Slaney, Sarah Woerpel and Charlie Rolli.
2) Approval of Public Notice/Agenda. Supervisor, David Gollon made a motion to approve the public notice and agenda seconded by Supervisor, Steven Johnson. Motion carried.
David Gollon made a motion to suspend the agenda and move to Item #8. Steven Johnson seconded the motion. Motion carried.
3) Discussion & possible action re: Approval or Denial of a Class “B” Beer/Liquor License for Barn 23 Bar & Restaurant (Sarah Woerpel, Agent). Steven Johnson made a motion to approve the Class “B” Beer/Liquor License for Barn 23 Bar & Restaurant with the appointment of Sarah Woerpel as agent. David Gollon seconded the motion. Motion carried.
4) Approval of Meeting Minutes from January 7th, 2014. David Gollon made a motion to approve the January 7th, 2014 minutes as submitted. Steve Johnson seconded the motion. Motion carried.
5) Approval of Treasurer’s Report for General, Sanitary District #1, 2, and Tax Collection Account. Steve Johnson made a motion to approve the Town of Dodgeville January 2014 Treasurer’s Report stating the following fund balances:
General Checking $ 124,560.03
Farmer’s Savings $ 5,394.37
M&I Tax Account $ 664,569.54
Local Government Investment Pool $ 6,971.75
M&I CD’s $ 50,806.27
Farmer’s Savings – Tax Acct $ 398,193.90
Township Funds: $ 421,368.97
Tax Funds: $ 829,126.89
David Gollon seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Steve Johnson made a motion to approve Sanitary Districts #1 and 2 Treasurer’s Report as submitted stating the following fund balances:
Sanitary District #1 $16,741.23
Sanitary District #2 $12,930.56
David Gollon seconded the motion. Motion carried.
6) Bills to be approved. David Gollon made a motion to approve the February vouchers totaling $23,769.42. Steven Johnson seconded the motion. Motion carried.
7) Town Roads/Equipment Report. Town Patrolman Charlie Rolli had updated the Town Board in regards to the status of our chains for equipment, quantity of salt remaining and equipment updates including the need for new grader tires in the near future. David Blume arrived during this discussion.
8) Clerk/Treasurer Report. Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson had indicated that the 2013 audit was completed and the Township had an increase in the fund balance of approximately $19,400.00. The Town Board indicated that they would be discussing any budget amendments that they would like to complete due to the increase in the fund balance.
9) Discussion & possible action re: Bid Specification for Plow Truck. The Town Board members discussed the bid specifications for the plow truck as a board. The Town Board requested that Town Patrolman Charlie Rolli work with Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson to get the specifications typed up with David Gollon and Curt Peterson proofing the specs prior to it being sent out for proposals. The Town Board requests that Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson send the request for proposal once proofed and have a deadline prior to the March board meeting so that documents can be reviewed by the board members.
10) Discussion & possible action re: Radios or Communication Devices. Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson presented the Board with information in regards to the Iowa County Highway Department radio upgrade project. The Town Board and Town Patrolman Charlie Rolli discussed the current use of the county radios by the Town of Dodgeville. Charlie Rolli indicated that the radios are barely used by the county trying to contact the Township as they usually will call their cell phones. Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson had indicated that Kevin Zajicek prefers to have a county radio in his truck as he listens to it for weather updates and to hear what is going on in the county when plowing. No action was taken.
11) Discussion & possible action re: Leffler Road TRIP Project - Engineer. Steve Johnson made a motion to select KD Engineering as the engineer for the Leffler Road TRIP Project. David Blume seconded the motion. Motion carried.
12) Review of 2013 Fire Department Audit Report. The Town of Dodgeville reviewed the audit report that was completed by Johnson Block for the City of Dodgeville. The Town Board indicated that the Township is going to request that once a year someone from the Fire Department attend a Town meeting and provide an update in regards to the Fire Department.
13) Public Comment. None.
14) Adjournment. Steve Johnson made a motion to adjourn the meeting. David Blume seconded the motion. Motion carried.
