Town Board Meeting Minutes
March 7th, 2017
6:00 p.m.

1) Call to order. Town Chairman, Curt Peterson called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Town Supervisors in attendance were: David Blume, Steven Johnson, David Gollon and Peter Vanderloo. Also in attendance were Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson, Kevin Zajicek, Randy Beerkircher, Greg Jewell and Karter Zajicek.

Everyone in attendance recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

2) Approval of Public Notice/Agenda. Supervisor, David Blume made a motion to approve the public notice and agenda seconded by Supervisor, Peter Vanderloo. Motion carried.

David Blume made a motion to suspend the agenda and move to Item #8 – Survey Road Resurfacing Project. Peter Vanderloo seconded the motion. Motion carried.

3) Discussion & possible award re: Survey Road Resurfacing Project. Engineer Greg Jewell presented the Town Board with a bid tabulation sheet from the bid opening that was held at 5:00 p.m. on March 7th, 2017. Steven Johnson made a motion to award the Survey Road Resurfacing Project Contract #1 thru Contract #4 to Iverson Construction in the amount of $290,007.40. Peter Vanderloo seconded the motion. Motion carried. The Town Board also reviewed a cost summary in regards to the amount that would be funded by the Township, County and TRI funded.

4) Approval of Meeting Minutes from February 7th, 2017. Peter Vanderloo made a motion to approve the meeting minutes from February 7th, 2017 as submitted. Steven Johnson seconded the motion. Motion carried.

5) Approval of Treasurer’s Report for General, Sanitary District #1, 2, and Tax Collection Account. David Gollon made a motion to approve the Town of Dodgeville’s February 2017 Treasurer’s Report stating the following fund balances:

General Checking $ 48,885.15
Farmer’s Savings $ 5,422.32
M&I Tax Account $ 623,955.41
M&I Tax Account – Tax Funds $ 0.00
Local Government Investment Pool $ 7,019.16
M&I CD’s $ 50,880.44
Farmer’s Savings Tax Account $ 0.00

Township Funds: $ 736,162.48
Tax Funds: $ 0.00

Peter Vanderloo seconded the motion. Motion carried.

David Gollon made a motion to approve Sanitary Districts #1 and 2 Treasurer’s Report as submitted stating the following fund balances:

Sanitary District #1 $17,512.34
Sanitary District #2 $ 0.00

Peter Vanderloo seconded the motion. Motion carried.

6) Bills to be approved. David Gollon made a motion to approve the March 7th, 2017 vouchers in the amount of $25,692.66. David Blume seconded the motion. Motion carried. David Gollon had indicated that he unsatisfied with the cost of the bill received by Madison Truck & Equipment.

7) Town Roads/Equipment Report. Town Patrolman, Kevin Zajicek indicated that a culvert on Wilson Road would need to be replaced, the removal of the building that blew onto Brennan Road had been cleaned-up and placed into the ditch and there were some minor issues in regards to the dump box side handle on the F550. Town Chairman, Curt Peterson had indicated that he would be constructing a canopy to place over the compactor made of steel and he would be having Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson contact the owners in regards to the removal of all the nails in the ditch and roadway on Brennan Road.

8) Clerk/Treasurer Report. Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson updated the Town Board members in regards to the Log Inn property that had recently had a fire and lost their premises in February. Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson reminded the Board members that the Spring Election would be held on the first Tuesday in April and presented the final major class comparison report.

9) Discussion & possible action re: Request for Rescinded Taxes. Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson presented a letter received from Assessor Cal Magnan in regards to a request for rescinded taxes. David Blume made a motion to approve the claim for relief from excessive taxation on Parcel 008-0149 in the amount of $1,663.33. Steven Johnson seconded the motion. Motion carried.

10) Discussion & possible action re: Iowa County MSHA Training. Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson indicated that the Iowa County Highway Department would be holding their annual MSHA Training on Tuesday, March 28th with the training costing $90 per participant which includes lunch. The Town Board discussed the needs of the training and the entering of quarries. David Blume made a motion to send the patrolmen to the MSHA Training. Curt Peterson seconded the motion. Motion carried.

11) Discussion & possible action re: Hazardous Material and Waste Disposal Training. Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson presented information in regards to the Hazardous Material and Waste Disposal Training that would be held on April 11th at the Mendota Conference Center in Madison. David Blume made a motion to approve the attendance of William Blume and Sara Olson for the training held on April 11th. Steven Johnson seconded the motion. Motion carried.

12) Discussion & possible action re: Update on the Thuli/Dochnahl Fence Viewing. Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson presented a letter that was received from the Smith & Tabor law office in regards to the Thuli/Dochnahl fence viewing. The Town Board had requested that a letter be sent to the law office acknowledging receipt of the letter that was received. The Town Board had indicated that they will continue to monitor the fence.

13) Discussion & possible action re: Spring Clean-Up. The Town Board set the date for the Spring Clean-Up to be April 22nd.

14) Public Comment. None

15) Adjournment. David Gollon made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:41 p.m. Steven Johnson seconded the motion. Motion carried.
